Commit to Be Fit is excited to offer the RCES Farm-to-Table program, where students discover how food gets from the field to their plate in this hands-on, real-world exploratory. Through engaging activities and discussions, 6th and 7th-grade students explore where food comes from, how it’s grown, and why local and sustainable farming matters. Taught by Mr. Kyle Wensel, this class blends science, health, and environmental studies as students learn about agriculture, nutrition, seasonal foods, and responsible food choices. This program has been made possible by the support of the Headwaters Foundation.

In October 2025, Commit to Be Fit launched the new Active Learning in Outdoor Spaces (ALIOS) exploratory for students in grades K–3. This class promotes environmental stewardship and healthy living through movement-based lessons in horticulture and nutrition, along with hands-on experiences growing and caring for school gardens. By combining active learning with foundations from farm-to-table programming and age-appropriate nutrition education, students develop healthy habits at a young age while learning about the origins of their food. This new exploratory class has been made possible by the support of the Headwaters Foundation.

Grounded in the latest neuroscience research on the connection between movement and learning, Commit to Be Fit is proud to offer the Action Based Learning (ABL) Lab for RCES students. This space is designed to help strengthen neural pathways by reinforcing foundational movement patterns that lay the groundwork for learning. Additionally, the lab provides space for movement-based content review and helps cement key concepts learned in the classrooms.

Commit to Be Fit offers classroom visits, by teacher request, for students in grades PreK–12. These short “push-in” sessions provide opportunities to engage students in mindfulness practices, nutrition education, or movement-based activities that support focus, attention, and overall readiness to learn.

Activity breaks in the classroom have been shown to refocus attention and increase on-task behavior. Commit to Be Fit has created a database of short classroom activities, listed by each movement foundation. Most activities are 5 minutes or less and do not require any additional materials.
